Daniel E. Reichart is an American astronomer. He is best known for his ground breaking contributions to the field of gamma-ray bursts, most notably his discovery in 1999 of a signature similar to supernovae in the late-time afterglow of GRB 970228, the first burst for which an afterglow was observed. This discovery was named by Science magazine in 1999 as one of the top ten scientific breakthroughs of the year.〔Dunbar, Brian. Stoyanova, Silvia. "''Daniel Reichart Press Release''".
